Sometimes I feel like nothing but remember I am everything. I am stardust. Every speck of my body was once a star That burned brightly. Halloween is still Halloween

This year has been strange and upending. 2020 made many companies scrutinize their list of employees and decide which ones are really essential, like someone downsizing their purse and deciding how many chapsticks to toss. I didn't make the cut. I feel so pointless. I'm still figuring that out but it's not the most important thing right now. I already know one person who's died in this pandemic and some people will never change their behaviors so it won't end any time soon. Going back to normal for me meant going back to work and seeing my coworkers but that's not an option for any of us now. When this finally blows over we'll have to establish a new normal. But one thing that feels normal right now is Halloween. This year we're decorating the house with Nightmare Before Christmas characters. For my birthday my friends got me the mayor inflatable with Oogie's boys tormenting him and Home Depot featured a giant Oogie inflatable. It sparks joy.

Sifting through the grave soil

I'm on the other side of a few bad years and looking forward to the future. I feel alive again and I want to look alive. It took a while to dig myself out and I never want to feel that low again. But I know I will since I have living loved ones. I recognize that I myself am a skeleton swaddled in a ghost who hasn't died yet. I mean to embrace a more positive outlook going forward but I can't skip over the rough stuff and pretend it didn't happen, as much as I wish it hadn't. So the next few deviations I share may be a mixed bag of soggy thoughts.

Dead but dreaming

I'm still not writing very much but I'm reading a lot and I'm thinking a lot. I'm starting to scheme, starting to remember, starting to feel. I just recovered a lost box from my parents' garage. I moved twice since then but I'm still missing my Animorphs books and my journals. This was a different box. It had some old text books, one loose journal I probably had sitting out on moving day, and 4 composition notebooks filled with a silly little story I started ages ago. It has kidnapping, long lost siblings, ninjas, parties. It's about 10 chapters long, which is the longest thing I've written without monsters. But maybe it could use a few...
